Dozens of Palestinians were killed and several others wounded as they gathered in the Kuwait roundabout area east of Gaza City to receive aid, eyewitnesses and local Palestinian sources said Thursday, reported Xinhua.
The witnesses and sources told Xinhua that thousands of Palestinians coming from different places in northern Gaza were at the roundabout to obtain aid amid severe shortages of food and supplies.
They noted that helicopters opened fire with their machine guns and launched several shells toward the gathering.
Palestinian media outlets said at least 30 Palestinians were killed in the incident.
Meanwhile, at least nine Palestinians were killed, and several others were wounded in an Israeli airstrike on a distribution center in the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza, medical sources and eyewitnesses said Thursday.
Eyewitnesses told Xinhua that an aircraft fired two missiles at an aid distribution center near the Al-Ahli club in the Nuseirat refugee camp.
The casualties were transported to hospitals in central Gaza, medical sources said.
So far, there have been no immediate comments from the Israeli army on the incident.
Israeli army Spokesperson Avichay Adraee said Wednesday on social media platform X that its army continued its activities in central Gaza, and eliminated several "saboteurs cells" with ground and air forces, noting that one of the cells near a warehouse stored weapons belonging to Hamas in the area.
He added that the Givati Brigade's combat group raided buildings in the Hamad neighborhood of the southern Khan Younis city, where fighters found rocket launch platforms during a reconnaissance operation and destroyed them.
