At least 28 people were killed in Israeli continuous raids in Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip, Palestinian medical sources updated on Saturday, reported Xinhua.
Kamal Odwan Hospital, the only operative hospital in northern Gaza, issued a statement saying that it received at least 28 bodies since Saturday morning, most of whom were children and women.
Palestinian security sources told Xinhua that Israeli warplanes fired missiles at residential homes and a shelter center for displaced people in Jabalia camp for Palestinian refugees in Gaza.
The raids caused large explosions in the camp, which had been witnessing a military operation for several days, while ambulances and civil defense crews rushed to the sites of the attacks.
The developments come as the Israeli army continues its operations in the camp for seven days in a row, using aerial and artillery bombardment, according to local sources and eyewitnesses.
Kamal Odwan Hospital Director Hossam Abu Safiya warned of the lack of medical supplies in his hospital, calling on the international community to provide fuel and health supplies.
Armed Palestinian factions in Gaza announced in separate statements that their members were fighting "fierce battles" with the Israeli army forces penetrating the Jabalia camp.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement Saturday that their troops engaged and eliminated "terrorists" in a number of battles in Jabalia, having dismantled a loaded rocket launcher, located several terror tunnel shafts, and located weapons and explosive devices in the area.
