At least 10 Palestinians were killed on Wednesday in an Israeli airstrike on a vehicle in the central Gaza Strip, reported Xinhua, quoting Palestinian sources.

An Israeli aircraft bombed a civilian vehicle at the entrance to the town of al-Zawaida in the central coastal enclave, security sources told Xinhua.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement on Wednesday that IDF troops continue operational activities in central Gaza, conducting targeted raids on military structures and dismantling "terror infrastructure sites."

"During one of the activities, the troops eliminated a terrorist cell that was identified as planting explosive devices in the area in order to attack IDF troops," the IDF said.

Israel has been launching a large-scale offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip to retaliate against a Hamas rampage through the southern Israeli border on Oct. 7, 2023, during which about 1,200 people were killed and more than 200 were taken hostage.

During the past 24 hours, the Israeli military killed 45 people and wounded 77 others, bringing the total death toll to 39,445 and injuries to 91,073 since the Palestinian-Israeli conflict broke out in early October 2023, Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement on Wednesday.
