Hezbollah issued on Wednesday a statement mourning its top military commander Fouad Shokor, who was killed by Israel a day earlier in Dahieh, Beirut's southern suburbs, reported Xinhua.

"Our resistance presents him as a symbol of decisive commitment and firm resolve to continue the jihad until the liberation of the land, the holy sites, and the people from the injustice and brutality of this usurping, criminal, and murderous entity," said the statement.

Fouad Shokor's martyrdom will be a strong motivation for his fellow fighters to move forward with steadfastness and courage to preserve the achievements, victories, and capabilities, and to achieve the goals and hopes this great leader was looking forward to, it added.

Hezbollah Leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah will give a speech on Thursday afternoon to voice Hezbollah's political stance with regard to this attack, according to the statement.

An Israeli drone fired on Tuesday evening three missiles at a position near the Shura Council of Hezbollah in the Dahieh suburbs in southern Beirut, killing Shokor and five other people and wounding 74 others.
