Germany's flagship airline Lufthansa announced on Monday that it will extend its flight suspension to the Middle East until Aug. 21 due to ongoing regional tensions, reported Xinhua.
According to the German Press Agency, the suspension will affect all flights to and from Tel Aviv, Tehran, Beirut, Amman, and Erbil.
Additionally, all airlines within the Lufthansa Group, including Swiss, Austrian, Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings, will avoid flying over the Iraqi and Iranian airspace.
This decision comes in response to the ongoing tensions between Israel and Iran.
Lufthansa had previously canceled a flight to Israel on July 31 for security reasons. Last week, the airline further extended its suspension of flights to the Middle East due to escalating tensions. The initial suspension was set to expire this Tuesday.
