Landslides claim 10 lives in India's Tripura state

At least 10 persons died in landslides in India's northeastern state of Tripura, a senior state government official said on Thursday, reported Xinhua.

Among the dead were seven persons from two families.

The landslides occurred in the South Tripura district amid heavy rains. According to media reports, over 34,000 people have been affected by heavy rains over the past few days.

People were seen wading through waist-deep waters in residential sections of the affected areas.
