British Airways has temporarily suspended its flights to Israel for three days due to escalating conflict along the northern border, the airline announced in a statement, reported Xinhua.

Recent flights from London's Heathrow Airport to Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv included a stopover in Larnaca, Cyprus, allowing the airline's staff to avoid overnight stays in Israel amid the unrest.

Spanish low-cost carrier Iberia Express has also suspended its flights to Israel for 48 hours. The airline operates daily direct flights between Madrid and Tel Aviv.

Meanwhile, Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air canceled all flights scheduled for Tuesday between several European cities and Tel Aviv.

On Monday, the Lufthansa Group, which includes Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines, and Brussels Airlines, announced it would extend its flight suspension to Israel until Oct. 14. The group had previously halted flights a week ago and initially planned to resume operations on Thursday.
