At least 23 people were killed and 65 others injured on Saturday in Israeli airstrikes on several areas in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese military sources, reported Xinhua.

The military sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Israeli warplanes and drones carried out around 90 raids in the afternoon, targeting about 45 villages and towns in southern Lebanon.

The attacks also hit several clinics and civil defense centers, killing 12 people and injuring 15 others, most of whom were doctors, paramedics, nurses, and firefighters, the sources said.

Since Oct. 8, 2023, Hezbollah has exchanged fire with Israel along the Lebanese-Israeli border to show its support for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel have sharply escalated after the latter announced a shift in military focus from the Gaza Strip to the northern front, aiming to fight against Hezbollah until the safe home return of its northern residents.

On Friday evening, Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes on Hezbollah's main headquarters in Dahieh, the southern suburbs of Beirut, and killed Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah. Nasrallah's death was also confirmed by Hezbollah.
