At least 33 Palestinians were killed on Monday in Israeli attacks on the northern Gaza Strip, reported Xinhua, quoting Palestinian sources.

Local sources and eyewitnesses told Xinhua that the Israeli army targeted a school, which shelters displaced persons in the Jabalia refugee camp.

Witnesses reported that the army instructed the displaced persons in the school to gather for evacuation before targeting the school with multiple artillery shells. The attack resulted in the deaths of seven people, including women and children, and injured dozens more.

At another shelter site in the camp, medical teams recovered the bodies of ten victims due to an Israeli artillery strike.

In addition, six Palestinians, mostly children, were killed, and several others were injured in an Israeli strike that targeted people filling water in the Jabalia area, according to the paramedics.

In Beit Hanoun, three Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike on a school housing displaced persons, while seven others, including children, were killed due to an Israeli attack on a house in the Zarqa area north of Gaza City, according to the civil defense agency.

The agency said the Israeli army continues to besiege tens of thousands of Palestinians in their homes in the northern area, preventing food and water from reaching them for the past 17 days.

In a statement, Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee mentioned that the evacuation of residents from Jabalia is ongoing amid intense fighting in the area.

Adraee said on the social media platform X that a joint operation involving the army, the Shin Bet security service, and the 162nd Division is currently underway against militants in the Jabalia area.

He added that during operations, the army allows civilians to evacuate safely from the area via organized routes, noting that hundreds of residents have left since this morning.

According to Adraee, the 162nd Division has continued its activities in Jabalia over the past 24 hours, killing dozens of militants and discovering numerous weapons.

The Israeli army has been conducting a ground operation in the Jabalia camp, one of the largest Palestinian refugee camps in the Gaza Strip, since early October, claiming that the operation aims to prevent Hamas fighters from reorganizing to launch further attacks.
