The Saudi-led coalition forces in Yemen announced Saturday the death of two Saudi officers in an attack in central Yemen, reported Xinhua, quoting the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

An officer and a non-commissioned officer were martyred and an officer was injured as a result of an attack on Friday evening inside a military camp in the city of Seiyun, SPA said, citing defense ministry spokesman Turki al-Maliki.

The spokesperson identified the attacker as an affiliate of the Yemeni Defense Ministry.

He underscored that it was a "lone wolf" attack that did not represent "the honorable members of the Yemeni Ministry of Defense."

The spokesman said the attacked camp provides counter-terrorism training for Yemeni military personnel and aids humanitarian and development initiatives in Yemen.

He noted that the coalition and the defense ministry would launch an investigation into the case.

Saudi Arabia mobilized an international coalition to intervene in Yemen in support of the internationally-recognized government in 2015, after the Houthi group seized the capital Sanaa the previous year.
