US closes embassy in Kyiv over possible air attack

The US embassy in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv said it will be closed on Wednesday after it received “specific information of a potential significant air attack,” reported Cable News Network (CNN).

The embassy told its employees to shelter in place while advising US citizens to be prepared to immediately shelter in the event an air alert is announced, said the report referring to an advisory issued on the embassy website.

Air raid sirens were activated in Kyiv several times overnight.

The sound of drones and activated air defenses could be heard across the capital, including the city center, according to a CNN team in Kyiv.
