6 killed as landslides, flash floods strike Sumatra

Six people were killed and seven others injured after landslides and flash floods hit Indonesia's North Sumatra province on Saturday, according to a rescuer, reported Xinhua.

Head of the Operational Unit of the Provincial Search and Rescue Office Kamellia told Xinhua that the natural disasters occurred in two regencies. The landslides struck Padang Lawas regency at 1:00 a.m. local time, resulting in four deaths and four injuries.

Flash floods hit South Tapanuli regency at 1:30 a.m. local time, killing two residents and injuring three others.
