Five Palestinians were killed on Wednesday in an Israeli airstrike on the Al-Damaj neighborhood of Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, reported Xinhua.

The ministry reported that five bodies were transferred to Jenin Governmental Hospital following the Israeli airstrike on the camp.

Local Palestinian sources told Xinhua that two missiles targeted two homes in the camp, destroying parts of them.

An Israeli army spokesperson confirmed that the Air Force conducted a strike on the Jenin refugee camp but did not provide further details.

It is the second airstrike on the camp in less than 24 hours. On Tuesday, a drone strike in the camp killed six Palestinians.

The West Bank has been witnessing escalating tensions since Oct. 7, 2023, with more than 830 Palestinians killed by Israeli shelling and gunfire, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.
