Pakistani security forces have killed 22 terrorists and injured 18 others during a series of over a month-long intelligence-based operation in northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa district, the military said in a statement on Thursday, reported Xinhua.

The operations were initiated on Dec. 14 last year, in the Tirah area of the district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani military said in the statement.

The offensive was launched in response to recent terrorist attacks, targeting security forces and innocent civilians in the region, the ISPR said.

The security forces will continue the operations until lasting peace is achieved in the area, the statement noted.
