At least five people were killed in an explosion of unknown origin at a residential home in the town of Al-Nayrab in northwestern Syria's Idlib province on Thursday, reported Xinhua, quoting Syrian state TV Al-Ikhbariya.
Initial reports indicated that three civilians, including a woman and a child, were killed, while another child was injured, with all the casualties coming from one family, according to Al-Ikhbariya.
Rescue teams continue searching for the missing trapped under the rubble after the blast, Al-Ikhbariya reported.
Meanwhile, Britain-based war monitor the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that the death toll of the explosion, which was caused by leftover munitions, has reached seven, and that the number was provisional.
On Wednesday, France-based non-governmental organization the Humanity and Inclusion said two-thirds of Syrians risk being injured or killed by unexploded ordnance remaining after the almost 14-year civil war in Syria.
