Daily Finland published an opinion piece titled “The Dangerous Ties Between the Polisario Front and Iran: An Underestimated Threat to Europe,” which drew attention from a Polisario Representative to Australia.

According to the Polisario Representative, the article makes serious and unsubstantiated allegations against the Polisario Front and misrepresents both its objectives and conduct.

“The opinion piece ........., presents a narrative that aligns with longstanding efforts to delegitimize the Sahrawi liberation movement. By alleging connections between the Polisario Front and Iranian-backed groups, the piece attempts to reframe a struggle for self-determination as a security threat,” wrote the representative, adding that the approach not only lacks credible evidence but also undermines established international legal frameworks supporting the Sahrawi cause.

The author of this commentary, speaking as a European citizen, emphasizes that his position stems from a personal investigation based exclusively on publicly available information, in accordance with the principles of journalistic transparency and proper sourcing. He underlines that he holds no bias against the principle of self-determination, to which he remains committed. It is precisely for this reason that he supports the Autonomy as a peaceful and internationally acknowledged interpretation of this principle.
