A landslide on Friday morning in western Burundi killed six Burundian construction agents and injured three others, an official said.

The tragedy happened in the Gasenyi village in Mutimbuzi District, Bujumbura Province, said Nadine Gacuti, governor of Bujumbura Province during a visit to the village.

Nine construction agents were protecting the River Gasenyi and infrastructures located near the river, when a riverbank collapsed on them, said Gacuti. Six of them were buried by the debris and died on the spot, she said.
