Mall shooting kills 1 in U.S. state of Tennessee

A shooting incident at a mall claimed one person Thursday in the southern state of Tennessee, prompting the evacuation of the whole building, local authorities said.

The incident took place at Opry Mills mall in Nashville, when a young man opened fire on another after the two had a fight. The victim later died in hospital.

The shooter ran out of the mall after the attack to a ticket counter, gave up his firearm and told others to call the police. He was later taken into custody as investigators started a probe to determine his motive.

The shooting created temporary chaos inside the mall, one of the biggest in the state.

Dozens of ambulances and police vehicles gathered outside the building after the shooting and all of the mall's 200 stores and a movie theater were evacuated and thoroughly swept.
