Morocco, Spain vow to continue close cooperation in migration issue

The Moroccan Interior Minister Abdelouafi Laftit, and his visiting Spanish counterpart Fernando Grande-Marlaska, pledged to further cooperate to tackle migratory flows and border control, the Moroccan official MAP news agency reported on Friday.

"Morocco and Spain are aware of the new circumstances governing the migration issue and will continue their cooperation in a very close manner as we have done so far," MAP quoted Grande-Marlaska as saying.

The two countries will put in place the "necessary means" to ensure the control of migration flows, he said, adding that both countries are working together to adopt "adequate and structured measures to control their borders."

Laftit said that the two countries share a convergence views on the steps taken to combat migratory flows, adding that they are "committed to continuing to work together to find all possible solutions to the problems we are faced with."
