Bangladesh students' protest over deaths of pals continues

Students in parts of Bangladesh capital Dhaka for the third consecutive day on Tuesday took to the roads and streets in protest over deaths of their pals in a tragic incident of reckless driving.

Students blocked roads and streets for hours since Tuesday morning to press home their demands including safe road.

Several buses were torched and vandalized during the protests that continued in parts of the city till filing of this report Tuesday at about 5:30 p.m. local time.

TV footage shows law enforcers have been trying to convince or disperse defiant protesters.

Against this backdrop, commuters suffered again on Tuesday like previous two days.

Two students died on the spot, while another nine of the Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College were injured and rushed to a hospital as they were run over by a bus on the highway linking Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with the center of Dhaka on Sunday afternoon.

Law enforcers already detained two drivers and their two assistants responsible for the accident which occurred due to a mad race between them.
