Student stabbed multiple times at U.S. high school

A 14-year-old female student on Thursday was stabbed multiple times on the first school day at a high school in Luther, about 45 km northeast of Oklahoma City in the U.S. state of Oklahoma.

According to local police, the stabbing happened during orientation in the auditorium of the Luther High School, and a 14-year-old male student has been taken in custody.

The incident was under investigation, but at this time it was unclear how the two teenagers knew each other or why the incident occurred. The school has been placed on a lockdown during the investigation. The high school has more than 250 students.

Luther is a town in Oklahoma County, and part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area. The population is estimated around 1,200.
