Three Palestinian teenagers were killed on Sunday night in an Israeli airstrike on the border area between eastern Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip and Israel, medical sources said.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society said in a short text message sent to reporters that the rescue medical teams managed to pull out bodies of three teenagers.

The Health Ministry in Gaza said that the three killed are aged between 12 and 14 years old and their bodies were taken to Nasser Hospital in the town.

The Israeli media said that three Palestinians were trying to plant a roadside bomb underneath the border between eastern Gaza Strip and Israel, adding that they were hit by a missile and were all killed.

Palestinian eyewitnesses said that the Israeli army forces opened fire at Palestinian medical teams and ambulances, preventing them from approaching the area where the airstrike took place.

The pro-Hamas Radio station al-Aqsa confirmed that two Palestinians were killed and one critically injured in the airstrike.
