11 killed due to floods in Jordan

The death toll rose to 11 after some bodies were found on Friday night after flood ripped several areas of Jordan over the weekend, according to Jordanian government.
Three died in Dabaa area near the Desert Highway in Al Jiza district while some others were found dead in sunken cars near the city of Madaba governorate, southwest of the capital Amman, Minister of State for Media Affairs, Jumana Ghunaimat, was quoted as saying by Jordanian News Agency Petra.
Severe floods hit Maan governorate, Wadi Mousa area, Petra, Madaba and other areas in Jordan following heavy rainfall across the country.
More than 60 people were rescued and the wounded were taken to hospital, some of whom were in critical conditions.
Ghunaimat said that hundreds of civil defense members were still continuing their search for several missing people, adding that the authorities had evacuated more than 1,100 Jordanians and some families from other Arab countries living near valleys and streams.
The Ministry of Water and Irrigation advised all residents of areas adjacent to the Waleh Dam in Madaba to take necessary precautions and keep away from valleys as the area is witnessing heavy rainfall.
