Former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe, who has been receiving medical treatment in Singapore for the past two months, is now unable to walk, President Emmerson Mnangagwa revealed on Saturday.
The former president is now 94 years old.
State news agency New Ziana reported that Mnangagwa said this while addressing a ruling party ZANU PF rally at Murombedzi growth point in Mashonaland West province, which is not far from Mugabe's rural home.
The rally was the first of a series planned events to thank the electorate for voting him into office in the July 30 general elections.
Mnangagwa said the Mugabe would return home on Nov. 30, as his condition had generally improved despite not being able to walk.
"He should have come back on Oct. 15 but we received word that he was not feeling well so he stayed on in Singapore, but yesterday we received information that he had recovered a bit so he will come back on Nov. 30," he said.
"He can no longer walk, but we will keep looking after him. We will provide whatever he asks for," Mnangagwa said.
