A total of six protesters were killed on Thursday in Sudan's eastern state of Gadarif, Sudania 24 TV reported.
"Six people were killed and a number of others injured as a result of the demonstrations which took place in Gadarif town," El Tayeb Al-Amin Taha, commissioner of Gadarif locality, was quoted as saying.
The security committee of Gadarif State had imposed a curfew in Gadaref town starting from 6 p.m. (1600 GMT) until 4:30 a.m., he revealed.
Sudan has been recently witnessing popular protests in various areas against deteriorating economic conditions and price hikes of basic commodities.
A day earlier, the government of northern Sudan's Nahr al-Neel State declared state of emergency in Atbara, the state's largest city, and imposed a curfew in the wake of similar protests in the city.
