Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Monday evening lit a torch marking the 54th anniversary of the launch of the Palestinian liberation revolution and Fatah movement's establishment in West Bank's Ramallah city.
Abbas reiterated that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of the Palestinian state and it is not for sale.
He said that the Palestinian leadership and people will never accept and will not allow anyone to sell Jerusalem, or allow U.S. President Donald Trump to sell it to Israel. "This will never happen," said President Abbas.
"We will not allow anyone to advance a plot against Jerusalem," he added saying that "Jerusalem will remain the eternal capital of the Palestinian state, as the late President Yasser Arafat said that a Palestinian child will raise the flag of Palestine on the walls, minarets and churches of Jerusalem."
Abbas said the Palestinian people will continue their struggle until they establish their independent state of Palestine.
"The coming year will be better than this one, and indeed, we will continue to carry hope and pass it on from one generation to the next; this means that after 54 years and three generations, the revolution goes on and will continue with your determination, your will and your inspiration and with god's will, as he is capable of doing everything and this child shall raise the Palestinian flag."
