At least 23 members of security forces were killed in a suicide attack in Iran's southeastern Sistan and Baluchestan province on Wednesday, said a statement by Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

In the terrorist attack, 17 others were injured, the statement was quoted as saying by semi-official ISNA news agency.

A car loaded with explosives was blasted near the bus carrying a unit of IRGC's Quds Force which led to the causalities, the statement said.

The attack targeted the personnel of the IRGC in Chanali area on Khash-Zahedan road in Sistan and Baluchestan province.

The IRGC statement blamed intelligent agency of Israel for being behind the Wednesday attack.

According to local reports, Jaish al-Adl rebel group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Jaish al-Adl, which claims it is fighting for the rights of the majority of Sunni people in Sistan and Baluchestan province, has so far claimed responsibility for a number of deadly terrorist attacks and abductions of Iranian security forces in the region.
